Cultural Icons of New Zealand
INTRODUCTION
The Cultural Icons project commemorates the efforts of those contributing significantly to the creative landscapes of New Zealand. The project comprises recorded interviews and programs which aim to share histories, stories and experiences of New Zealand’s most significant visual artists, architects, publishers, entrepreneurs, writers, musicians etc.
SUMMARY
The interviews occur between friends and contemporaries, and construct a cultural genealogy, thus becoming warm, informed and often intimate. These dialogues offer a rare insight into these people’s creative journeys, their ambitions, inhibitions, successes and contributions to New Zealand’s arts and culture scene.
MORE
As well as creating a valuable and accessible archive for researchers and students, The Depot of interview, available free online, actively promotes the culture to a wider globalaudience.
