Category 1 - Featured Academic
  1. Featured academic
    • The Featured academic submissions must document the academic’s scholarly biography.
    • Each category must be at least 60 seconds in length.
    • Suggested points of talk are as follows:
      • Academic history
      • Salient work / projects
      • Main publications
      • Co authors and scholarly networks
      • Future endeavors
      • Administrative work in academia
      • Research directions
      • Scholarly philosophies and ideologies
      • Reflexivity and self observation, that is, how would the academic describe themselves. (Who am I as an academic? How do I define my role over the years?)
    • All presented talk must be aimed at supporting the overarching description of the life of the academic. As such, discussions of each category must be minimal and must support the larger general description of the academic.

    • The Featured Research Project submissions must document a particular research project.
    • Each category must be at least 60 seconds in length.
    • Suggested points of talk are as follows:
      • Initial simple description
      • Methodology

      • Lead up to the research
      • Duration of the research
    • All presented talk must be aimed at supporting the overarching description of the research project. As such, discussions of each category must be minimal and must support the larger general description of the project.

Submissions to SOAS DOCUMENT are peer reviewed prior to acceptance. As such, all submissions to SOAS DOCUMENT must adhere to the following requirements:

  1. Format – DOCUMENT is a multimedia online journal of research, and all submissions must consider this format. As such, all material must be submitted in Video format, with high quality picture and audio. The submissions must be submitted as raw video, with no text or any other material within the frame. The video must be separated into categories, and sections. However, should submissions be sent as whole videos, and hence un-separated, the video can be edited by SOAS DOCUMENT editors, and this will be discussed with submitters.
  2. Length – Submissions must be a minimum length of 10 minutes of usable footage. There is no maximum length, but generally,, most submissions are approximately 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
  3. Copyright – All submissions must be original material, where copyright will be transferred to SOAS DOCUMENT. Upon review and acceptance of material, all necessary copyright transfer information will be forwarded to the authors.
  4. Review period – Reviewers usually respond within four to six weeks, but this may be expedited.
  5. Submission stages
    1. Please send a proposal in the form of one paragraph with general information.
    2. The editors will respond with an initial decision based on appropriateness and relevance to the Journal.
    3.  Successful proposals will receive an invitation to submit the full video, and instructions as to how to submit, and other details.
