Professor Abdalla Ali Mohammed Hamad is the current Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kassala.
The University of Kassala, in the Eastern Sudan State of Kassala bordering Eritrea in the East, the Red Sea, the River Nile, Khartoum and Gedaref, was founded in Kassala in the 1994, replacing the former Alsharq University.
The University has made its central aim to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development in Sudan, thus seeking to authenticate Sudanese identity through scientific and applied research, earth sciences, medicine, mining and natural resources. However, the University has embarked on a project specifically aimed at massive and immediate development of the institution.
The University, composed of six faculties (Education, Economics & Administrative Sciences, Computer Sciences & Information Technology, Medicine & Health Sciences, Agriculture & Natural resources, and Engineering). The University has developed in accordance with the development of Kassala State, as it must needs to develop in horizontal and vertical directions. New colleges and new programs in existing colleges are needed to face the annual increase of students sitting for the Secondary School Certificate. The University has developed a plan for spring boarding new programs in current faculties, to internationalize itself, and to boost student mobility.
